Dashboards: Setting Up New Tiles 08 Jun 2016
When we make new dashboard tiles available you'll need to define which users or groups of users in your organisation should be able to access them. This short guide shows you how.
Where do I start?
Manage Tiles → Directory → If you have 'Manage Tiles' access, this is where you can control who can see which tiles.
Tiles will initially show as INACTIVE which indicates that they’re not available to anyone in your organisation yet. Click the EDIT button and you'll be presented with four levels of user access.
Whoa! hang on, Why access control?
We give you the option to control who can see which tiles because a) not all tiles will be relevant to all users and b) some metrics - such as audit results or contract KPIs for example, may be best limited to a controlled user group rather than open to all.
what are the Access Controls?
Each tile can have any combination of the following four options:
Company → used to make the tile available to all users who have access to any location in a company. Access at this level supersedes all other rules and is the most 'open' option.
Home Location → used to make the tile available to all users with one of the locations you select as their 'home base'.
Access Level → users such as Schedulers, Base Managers or Chief Pilots often share common ‘management' access levels so it sometimes makes best sense to use the access level to control the tile access.
Named Users → for really specific tiles such as personal requests or tiles that are only relevant to a particular administrative or operational function you can grant access to just those users that need it.
Anything else worth knowing?
It is also possible - if you have Manage Tile access - to configure general tile access via an instance of it on one of your dashboards. Add the tile, click on the ‘cogs’ and view the ‘Permissions’ tab. That allows you to view the tile before defining your access rules.
You can revise these settings at any time and your changes will have an instant impact on every dashboard that uses the tile you update.
